Additionally, Charleston has launched a directed sales effort in collaboration with the area’s rail-served warehouse providers which comprises 14 facilities with 2.7 million square feet of space. This initiative is aimed at boosting the shipment of targeted commodities that work well for transloading, including cotton, grain, lumber, and woodpulp. All of these warehouses are served by one or both of the region’s Class 1 railroads: CSX and Norfolk Southern.
